Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Offers Revolutionary Technology and a History of Quality

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 with one simple mission: to design and manufacture tools that knife users would be proud to own, carry, and use.

This has meant that every Kershaw knife must be of the highest quality. Whether it's a hardworking pocket knife, a special collectors' edition, or a precision kitchen knife, Kershaw always chooses appropriate, premium materials and is dedicated to intensive craftsmanship.

Kershaw uses high-carbon stainless steel for its blades and heat-treats them for demonstrably superior durability. Each one is perfectly ground and polished by skilled craftsmen before being hand-honed to the famous Kershaw 'shaving sharp' edge-an edge that is acknowledged industry-wide as the sharpest out of the box of any brand.

Extremely tight tolerances and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques ensure that Kershaw knives provide a lifetime of performance as well. The perfect balance of every Kershaw knife, along with its uniform finish and good looks, make it a sheer pleasure to own.

Another vital aspect of Kershaw's quality is a commitment to innovation. Kershaw introduced the concept of knives with interchangeable blades-their well-known Blade Traders-and pioneered the use of a variety of advanced materials for knife handles, including a unique copolymer, a lightweight, aircraft aluminum, and titanium. Each material offers the knife user a variety of benefits, from an extremely comfortable, secure grip to exceptional strength and durability.

Today, Kershaw is introducing knife technology that is nothing short of revolutionary: the patent-pending, SpeedSafe torsion-bar mechanism for assisted opening. A short push on the thumb stud and a cam deploys the blade, locking it into position. This torsion bar technology offers unique safety benefits, too. For instance, the torsion bar holds the blade securely in the handle until the customer releases it. In addition, the torsion bar won't allow the blade to fall back into the handle until pushed into place. Designed and developed by custom knife maker Ken Onion, Kershaw's Random Task knife incorporating this SpeedSafe technology was honored by Blade Magazine as their 1998 American-Made Knife of the Year.

Kershaw Knives is part of the KAI Corporation-for 90 years, Japan's premier blade producer. KAI Corporation, too, takes an innovative approach to product development which is based on the close coordination of its research and development, production, marketing, and distribution functions. While many of Kershaw's quality products are made in the company's 38,000 sq. ft. facility in Wilsonville, Oregon, Kershaw also draws on KAI's resources to provide the very best for the customer.

Kershaw offers a full line of working, sport, and collectors' knives, kitchen cutlery, the unique Kershaw Multi-Tool, and the new SpeedSafe-technology series-all backed with Kershaw's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

For more than 25 years, this focus on quality and innovation has indeed resulted in products that customers are proud to own, carry, and use.
