Trijicon Self-Luminous Sights and Scopes FAQ

General

Does Trijicon have a GSA Contract?

Trijicon, Inc. is pleased to announce that Tactical and Survival Specialties (TSSI) has been selected as a full-line GSA distributor. They will be providing the Federal Government and U.S. Military access to Trijicon products though GSA orders.

How do I become a Trijicon Dealer or Distributor?

To become a Trijicon Dealer, we need a copy of your current signed FFL license and a copy of your sales license. Better pricing will be found going through one of our distributors, as they buy in larger quantities. To become a Trijicon Distributor, a manufacturer's representative will need to visit your facility to set up you up. We require an opening order of at least $2500 and yearly sales of $10,000 thereafter to retain status. The manufacturer's representative will supply you with product information, credit application and other information needed to order with Trijicon.

How do you pronounce "Trijicon"?

Trijicon is pronounced: tri-jig-con

Is tritium harmful?

According to documentation by health physicists in statements on file at the US NRC, it would take the simultaneous rupture of 10,000 of these small glass capsules in a small room 10 foot by 10 foot to potentially constitute a radiation health hazard. For this reason, customers need not be concerned about the potential risk of the night sight system. Furthermore, our front sight is 0.018 curies and the two rear sight dots are 0.018 curies each. A complete weapon system is 0.054 curies. This is less than many tritium watches, which have up to 0.200 curies or roughly four times as much radioactivity. In addition, the weapon is not as close to the body, and in less constant use than a watch.

What is Tritium?

Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. It is an odorless, tasteless, colorless gas that reacts with the human body in the same manner as natural hydrogen. Beta rays from the tritium hit phosphors to create the glow you see. Tritium has the half-life of 12.5 years, which means in twelve and an half years the tritium will be half as bright as it originally was. Night Sights

Can Trijicon install night sights on my weapon? Do I send my whole gun or just the slide?

Yes, Trijicon can install our replacement sights on weapon listed in our price sheet. If your handgun is a Semi-automatic you only need to send in the slide. Only the frame needs to be sent for Revolvers. Please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-338-0563 for shipping instructions and pricing information.

Do you offer different colored night sights?

Yes, Trijicon offers the choice of yellow or orange lamps in the rear sight only. We keep the front sight green always because it is the brightest and lasts the longest of the colored tritium. It is also the color furthest from muzzle flash. Green and yellow sights are warranted for 12 years. The orange lamp only carries a 5 year warranty.

I do not see my model gun on your product list. Do you carry night sights for it?

If your gun is not listed, please contact customer service.

I have a HS2000. Do you have sights for this gun?

Our SG01 sight set will fit the HS2000.

I have a Para Ordnance. Do you have night sights for it?

Many of the Para Ordnance guns will take our standard Colt sets. Para Ordnance P10 will take our CA01 set Para Ordnance P12 will take our CA09 set Para Ordnance P13 will take our CA10 set Para Ordnance P14 will take our CA01 set The limited and dovetail front versions are custom installations, which can be done at Tooltech Gunsight.

I saw an ad for a Taurus with night sights. Do you supply them?

Taurus is currently sending their parts to Trijicon for installation of our lamps. You can purchase a new Taurus gun with sights already installed from them. If you would like to retrofit you current gun with Trijicon sights, Tooltech Gunsight can do this procedure. Please contact them at 248-628-1811 for cost and options. Trijicon is currently looking into manufacturing standard replacement night sights for many Taurus models.

Is there an additional charge for different colors?

There is no additional cost for different colored lamps.

What solvents can I use to clean my sights?

Any normal gun cleaning operations does NOT affect Trijicon sights. The only caution is against using a strong organic solvent (thinner, toluene, acetone, etc.) in a vibratory cleaner or a soaking solution. Leaving sights sitting in such a solvent for an extended period of time may loosen some bonds. This would be true of any sight or paint on the gun. Wiping and cleaning with any normal gun-cleaning agents would not damage the sight assemblies.

Will the standard Colt sets work on the Springfield handguns?

Springfield has been using Trijicon as their night sight supplier. We are installing our lamps into their parts. You can check with Springfield for availablity at 309-944-5631. Our CA01 set can be installed if the front hole is opened to .125 wide.

ACOG

Can I change the reticle in my ACOG?

The reticle can be changed, however, the cost is usually more than buying a new scope.

Do you sell a cover for the scope?

We carry a bikini rubber cap for the 4x32 ACOG, which cove the eyepiece end and fits snug in the objective end. The model number for this is a TA52. If you are looking for a full cover, you may contact Scopecoat. They carry covers for a number of our products. Scopecoat's phone number is 602-957-0497 or visit their web site at www.scopecoat.com.

Does bullet weight and/or barrel lenght effect the reticle bullet drop compensator and range finding stadia lines?

The real issue is not the bullet weight or barrel length, but muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, and the distance from hight above bore. The difference in trajectory from bullet to bullet or barrel to barrel is usually less then the MOA thickness of the stadia lines.

I can't get my ACOG to zero on my AR15?

Our ACOG scopes are set at 100 meters when they leave the factory. If you cannot get the scope to zero, check to see if the scope is mounted all the way in to the handle. Sometimes a little extra pressure is needed to make sure the scope is completely touching the base of the handle.

The right hand side crosshair is blurry. Is this normal?

Yes and this is why: By removing metal from a prism mirror makes the ACOG reticle pattern. This mirror is at about a 45-degree angle inside the gun sight. This means that the left side of the reticle is closer to the eye than the center of the reticle and the right side of the reticle is further from the eye. The result for the right side of the reticle is that it is focused beyond infinity. This can cause distortion on the right side of the reticle. The perceived distortion will be more or less depending on an individual's eyesight. The left side of the reticle is unaffected because the human eye has no difficulty focusing on a closer object. This in no way detracts from the performance of the scope. The image of the target area is not affected. Only the right hand side horizontal reticle line is blurry. This construction is required to achieve a parallax free vertical center of the scope, which allows the built in ranging on the reticle pattern.

What bullet was used to calibrate the ACOG scopes?

The TA01, TA11, & TA31 (.223) was desinged for the 5.56mm, 20 inch barrel, 55 grain bullet, M16/AR15 carry handle mount. The TA01B & TA11C(.308) was desinged for the 7.62mm, 20 inch barrel, 168 grain bullet, M16/AR15 carry handle mount. The TA01NSN was designed specifically for the US Special Operations Command SOPMOD M4 Carbine. To meet their requirements, the reticle bullet drop compensator and range finding stadia lines are based on the trajectory of the 62 grain bullet from a 14.5 inch barrel, flattop mount (Picatinny rail Mil.Std.1913). Compact ACOG

Do the Special Ring Models come with the mount?

No. Because of the fiber optic design, standard one-inch rings can not be used to mount the Compact AGOG scopes. The Special Ring Models will have the top part of a ring and you may choose from our selection of adapters for the bottom of the ring that will mount on your weapon. Reflex

Can I change the reticle in my Reflex?

The reticle can be changed, however, it costs more than buying a new Reflex.

What is the difference between the Reflex & the Reflex II?

The Reflex II has a new clearer color lens (reds are more red instead a brownish color); it features a triangle reticle 12.5 MOA tall; and comes standard with the polarizing filter and rubber caps. The original Reflex has the reticle options of a 6.5 or 4 MOA dot. No accessories come with this Reflex.

Armson OEG

I have an O.E.G. can the tritium be replaced? What is the cost to perform this?

Yes, the tritium in your O.E.G. can be replaced. The cost is $35.00 which includes return shipping.

AccuPoint

Do you have any other size and power scopes?

We currently carry the 3-9x40 and 1.25-4x24 scopes. We are looking into expanding the line to a 30mm-tube scope. Most likely it will be 4-12x 56 or 4-12x50.
